The state of South Dakota
requires two or three credits of high school science laboratory classes, depending on
the track that you and your child decide to take. If a student is
currently enrolled in the "Standard" track then he/she would
only need to take two of these classes. In contrast, those who are
enrolled in the "Advanced" or "Distinguished" route
will need a minimum of three credits of lab science. To view a list

Note: for those interested in the "South Dakota Opportunities
Scholarship" four credits of lab science are required one of which must
include biology and another that includes either chemistry or physics. Physical science is a prerequisite to both chemistry and physics and is therefore a requirement for all CHS students. It is a study of matter, energy, motion, forces, and waves.
